Stellar Sourcing

Rob Adams -
Stellar Sourcing

Since we first opened our doors, ethics have been at heart of what we do and a whopping 28 years later, they still are.

We really care about the quality and provenance of the ingredients and suppliers we use for two main reasons;

Firstly, good quality ingredients taste better – fact. We know, we taste-test every single thing on our menu multiple times before it lands on your plate (it’s a tough life).

Secondly, scrutinising what we buy means we can be confident we’re making the best choices for you and for our planet.

Here’s a spotlight on some of our stellar sourcing

Coffee – we follow a direct trade model which means our wonderful suppliers, Extract Coffee Roasters, buy beans direct from farmers, giving them (the farmers) the best price and us (/you) access to top quality produce. Oh and Extract hand roast the beans on site in Bristol too.

Milk – we use organic milk from Chew Valley Dairy. It’s delivered in pergals (fancy large storage containers which slot into a jazzy machine that we serve milk out of) to reduce our plastic waste. Plus we don’t believe in ‘normal milk’, so you can choose from organic dairy, soya or oat, for free.

Reusable Cups – Since we banned single use coffee cups in 2018, our reusable cups are supplied by Ecoffee Cup. If you’re taking away, we operate a ‘Bring, Buy or Borrow’ scheme in our cafes. Meaning you can bring your own cup, buy one from us, or loan a cup which you can return to any BTP for a refund.

Twice in a row, Ethical Consumer Magazine have named us best ethical cafe to buy from, which we’re pretty pumped about.

We’ll always be in the business of #makingthingsbetter, doing things the right (not always the easy) way.

2023 will be no different (we see you, we raise you),
