BTP started life as a cafe with ethics at its very core, ethics that are as important today as they ever were. Everything we buy is scrutinised to ensure it’s the best choice for us, our customers and the environment.
Many of our suppliers are from the Westcountry, that’s because our spiritual home is Bristol (where we started in 1995 and where our HQ is based), we have worked with most of them for many, many years and they are very much part of the family. Together they produce the amazing ingredients we use every day, and using great ingredients is half of the recipe to making delicious food and drink.
It’s not just food and drink, it also applies to our energy and recycling partners too.
There’s so much to tell you about our relationships that it’s hard to fit it all one page, but here’s a snapshot:
-
Arthur David
Arthur David & Co has been supplying great quality fruit and vegetables for over 50 years. Essentially still a family run business, they operate from Hillside Farm in the beautiful Chew Valley Lake area just outside Bristol. They source from Red Tractor-approved producers and are committed to a policy of local food sourcing, as well as supporting local producers, suppliers & farmers.

We work closely with our butchers, Aubrey Allen to ensure animal welfare is top notch and the animals and processes get the respect they deserve. They are now one of the best respected butchers in the UK having grown through their commitment to making the best quality meat available to our customers. Their client list includes the Roux family and Raymond Blanc, and they even have a Royal Warrant. We consider ourselves very honoured to supply their products.

Chew Valley Dairy is located in the heart of the Chew Valley in Bristol. Chew Valley Dairy operate under strict hygiene controls, and ensure that the milk from our farms is delivered, processed and packaged for delivery, in the shortest time possible. GENeco
There’s nothing rubbish about these guys. They have a big anaerobic digester, which chomps up our food waste. Recycling food waste via anaerobic digestion means that the energy and nutrients contained within the food can be recovered and used to generate renewable energy and biofertilisers. A great future for that last baked bean that you just couldn’t finish.

Severn & Wye Smokery
All our fish comes from the clever folks at Severn & Wye Smokery. They’re based on the edge of the Forest of Dean, positioned between the two rivers that share their name Most importantly, all the fish is MSC accredited. They seek out ways to minimise their environmental impact and have worked with local sawmills to repurpose excess wood. Over the past 20 years they have felled only 5 oak trees and to replace them have planted over 350 deciduous trees (oak, ash, horse chestnut etc). They’re also awaiting planning permission for their own wind turbine to power their smoker.

Ecoffee Cup
When we took the decision to ban single use coffee cups, we knew we’d need to find a brilliant, reusable alternative. We looked at loads of different suppliers, but discovered the wonderful Ecoffee. The cup is made of bamboo fibre, looks great and is a delight to drink from.
