Your questions answered
Got a burning question about BTP? This is the page for you. We've done our best to cover everything we can think of, but if you're still left with questions then feel free to get in touch.
We were founded in Bristol in 1995. 10 years later, Sam Roberts took the helm, and that’s the way things have been ever since. We’re a family firm. No corporate confines, just an independent spirit and an endless passion for Making Things Better. Read more about our story here.
Since the beginning, we’ve been in the business of doing things the right way. Our decisions, big or small, are conscience-led, it’s never about profit above all else. We are committed to Making Things Better for the communities we serve, the people we employ and the planet we inhabit. We believe every choice matters, from banning single use takeaway coffee cups (HUGE), to no longer coating our menus in laminated plastic (SMALLish). Collectively we can change our world, Making Things Better, one choice at a time.
We have 22 cafes dotted from Barnstaple to Birmingham. You can find your nearest café here.
Each BTP’s opening hours are slightly different. Please head to your local café’s page to find out more.
No bookings needed here. Just walk in and grab a table (except for Afternoon Tea – please give us 48 hours’ notice for that). We do sometimes accept bookings for special occasions including Christmas; just speak to your local cafe.
Once you’ve found your table, you can order on your phone (you’ll find a QR code and table number on your table). Of course if that’s not your thing, head to the till and place your order with the team instead. Any allergies or dietary requirements? Please order at the till so we can make sure you’re well looked after.
We always have time for breakfast. We believe it’s best served all day, every day of the week, so our whole menu is always available in the cafe. Fancy a burger for breakfast or pancakes at 3pm? No judgment here! See the menu.
That would be our Boss Breakfast. Take it to another level with the Full Monty, a Full English sat atop a vintage cheddar cheese and baked bean sourdough toastie. See the full menu here.
We firmly believe that a dish should be just as delicious with or without meat. We offer veggie and vegan versions of our dishes wherever possible – and we don’t just remove the meat, we take the time to carefully develop dishes that are incredible in their own right (try the Sweetcorn Hash and thank us later…)
We make every effort to ensure there’s something for everyone on our menus. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please speak to a member of the team every time you visit, as our recipes may change occasionally and we may need to substitute ingredients from time to time. Although every care is taken, due to the busy nature of our cafes, we cannot guarantee the absence of nuts or other allergens as we handle them all across our counters, coffee machines and kitchens.
We don’t have a separate menu as with any allergies or dietary requirements we always ask you to speak to the team when ordering as we handle all allergens in the cafe. The team can provide you with our non-gluten containing options and our up-to-date allergen information. We can also substitute bread or baps for gluten-free bread on request.
Of course – and whether you opt for Chew Valley Dairy whole milk or Minor Figures oat, the price of your coffee stays exactly the same.
We will only serve coffee we can prove is sustainably sourced and tastes out of this world. So, we make things simple and work with Extract Coffee Roasters. You can also grab bags of beans from our cafes to take home, including our very own Boston House Blend.
No! We were the very first UK coffee ‘chain’ to ban single-use cups back in 2018, and since then we’ve saved over a million from landfill (see the counter on our homepage for the latest). You can bring your own cup for us to fill, borrow a loan cup for a fully refundable £2, or buy one of our colourful reusable cups from just £5.25. Find out more here.
For those days when you don’t want to dine in, you can get your BTP fix via click and collect or Deliveroo.
For those special (and not-so-special!) occasions we offer brunch tipples including Bloody Marys, Buck’s Fizz, Mimosas and Prosecco, plus a tasty range of beers and ciders from West Country legends Lost and Grounded and Thatchers. See the menu.
Pull up a chair and loosen the tie (better yet, leave it at home). Our afternoon tea includes your pick of finger sandwiches, cracking cakes, mini scones (with all the trimmings, obvs) and all the tea, coffee or prosecco you could dream of. And there’s even a special version just for kids. Just give us 48 hours’ notice to rustle up the good stuff. Birthdays, baby showers or just because? We’ve got you. Find out more here.
Absolutely! Either pop into your local cafe to buy a physical gift card, or head to our online store to order digital gifts, delivered immediately to the lucky recipient via email or SMS.
Say hello to BTP Rewards, our way of giving back to our most loyal brunchers. Spend £2.25 or more and nab an egg stamp on every visit. Once you have 9 eggs, your next pile of hash browns, barista-made coffee or pot of loose-leaf tea is on us. Make sure you’re also signed up to our mailing list for extra perks and the latest BTP news. Find out more here.
You’ll see ‘step free access’ on the website cafe pages where we have accessible facilities. Occasionally full accessibility is restricted by the age and historic nature of a building. Please drop us a line if you have any specific queries around accessibility at your local BTP.
Almost all of our cafes have gardens or terraces– some smaller (like Barnstaple’s perfect-for-people-watching pavement tables), some bigger (like Park Street’s amazing secret garden) Check out your local café’s page for more information.
We sure do – just look for ‘BTP Guest’ to sign in to our free customer Wi-Fi.
Whether you’re a work-from-homer, freelancer, want somewhere to host your weekly team meeting or even need to hire space for a work event you’re hosting, #WFB is the one. There’s no need to book, just walk on in and the team will point you in the direction of a good spot (in return they’d be much obliged if you’d order that slice of cake you don’t need and make their day).
Make meetings better with breakfast baps, muffins, toasties, burgers and more available to click and collect, or order direct to your desk with Deliveroo. Some cafes also have great spaces for a well-earned meeting break – ask your local team about options for weekday get togethers.
Everyone’s welcome at BTP! Our cafes are the perfect space to bring the whole family. Buggies are welcome (we’ll always find space) and Babyccinos are on us. We have a dedicated kids’ menu, including afternoon tea for tinies as well as regular family-friendly events in many of our cafes. Find out what’s on here.
Four-legged friends are very welcome in our cafes. Just keep those paws on the floor!
From time to time we run special offers just for students (including everyone’s favourite Hash Brown Happy Hours!) Some of our cafes do offer student discounts and deals for university societies, so just chat to your local team to find out more.
Many of our cafes have spaces ideal for private hire or can be hired for evening events. Get in touch with your local BTP with the type of event and how many people, and the team will work with you to find the perfect space.
Community events are our bread & butter (pun intended). If you have an event that you think would be perfect at BTP, just speak to your local café; the team will be thrilled to hear from you. Check out what’s on at your local BTP.
We’d love to bring our cafes to more communities! If you know of a spot you think we’d be perfect for, we’d love to hear all about it – get in touch.
Giving back to our communities in a meaningful way is something we’re deeply passionate about. So, we do – via The Boston Foundation (est. 2020), a charity initiative funded by your hot drink habit and our teams.
We stash away 10p from every takeaway hot drink sale and partner with incredible youth-focused charities near our cafes to host inspiring, hands-on, confidence-building workshops for young people with practical takeaways they can use in hospitality and beyond. Find out more here.
We’re always on the hunt for Good Eggs. Head to our Careers page to find out more about what it’s like working for BTP and see current vacancies.
