Gromit is coming to town

We have an exciting summer ahead, as we are lucky enough to be hosting a Gromit sculpture as part of the Gromit Unleashed 2 trail!

Having hosted Shaun the Sheep a couple of years back, we are delighted to be able to again support The Grand Appeal, Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity, in collaboration with Arthur David our fresh product supplier, who has co-sponsored with us.

Gromit Unleashed 2 will see Nick Park’s Academy Award-winning character Gromit return to Bristol for his second starring role in the award-winning charity’s sculpture trails, but this time he’s not alone; the loveable pooch will be joined by his pal Wallace and arch nemesis Feathers McGraw! The trail will feature over 67 giant sculptures designed by high-profile artists, designers, innovators and local talent. All of which is in aid of The Grand Appeal which has raised over £6m from the past two trails. It all kicks off on Monday July 2nd and runs until September 2nd.

Our Gromit is called ‘Sprinkles’ and will be based at BTP Gloucester Road and he was designed by Tom Hovey, the artist who creates the amazing sketches for The Great British Bake Off. Tom has designed him with a sweet tooth very much in mind. He looks very much like a birthday cake, with layers of bright sponge, sweets and icing adorning his belly and of course hundreds and thousands sprinkles (hence the name) over his head, ears and feet! Not only that, he is wonderfully topped off with a candle on his head, looking good enough to eat.

And you can too! Laura our Product Manager has developed a cookie inspired by Sprinkles and will be on sale in all of our Bristol cafes throughout the trail with all profits going to The Grand Appeal.

Plus, if you are calling in as part of the trail, or just popping in and fancy a selfie, you could win a meal for two plus drinks. Simply post your Gromit sculpture pic tagging in BTP Cafes to be in with a chance of winning. We’ll pick our favourite each week who’ll we’ll contact directly about their prize.

We’ll be having plenty of Gromit-related goings on in the Gloucester Road cafe throughout the summer, so whether you pop by for a quick selfie with Shaun or stay for lunch, we can’t wait for him to arrive!
